EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - June 24, 2005) - City of Edmonton computer recycling and donations program is being properly handled by the Electonic Recycling Association, a non profit organization that cares about the environment and helping low income people, groups, and communities. Edmonton, as Alberta's capital city should be the leader in computer and electronic recycling. Unfortunately, the city council several years ago decided to collect all old computers in large bins and deliver them all to the landfill in anticipation of recycling them all. It has been over 4 years, and still there have been no reports of any being recycled. Calgary's based Electronic Recycling Associaton (ERA) came into Edmonton to collect computers to give to charities, poor people, elderly, and is having a hard time. Many people in Edmonton are still taking their old computers and laptops to the landfills, to be forgotten about forever. This no longer has to be this way. About 10 depot locations have been established to collect old computers. Locations such as The Brick, Memory Express, BCOM Computers, MDG, any many others are taking old computers for donation and recycling. Individuals, organizations and corporations in Edmonton are urged to STOP taking equipment to the city ran Ecostations as all of that equipment ends up in the landfill, to be forgotten about forever.
