(OPENPRESS) September 2, 2005 -- The WEEE Recycling Directory has today announced the launch of its free online WEEE Tenders & Collections service, alongside its first successful tender & collection application. Under the WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) Directive, producers have to finance treatment, recycling and recovery of separately collected WEEE to specified treatment standards and targets. The WEEE Directive was supposed to see producer responsibility introduced in European states by August 13, 2005. In the UK this was moved to January 2006 and has now been set back to June 2006. With the WEEE Directive implementation in the UK looming, arranging a collection of WEEE has always been a long and tiring task. Computer and Purchasing Managers have always had to deal with the disposal of their computers on behalf of their companies, spending countless hours telephoning recycling companies for quotes and information. This service allows a company to post a list of the electrical equipment they need collecting and the area to collect it from. The WEEE Recycling Directory automatically matches the tender details to the recyclers listed in the Directory and emails the recyclers requesting them to send a quote to the company looking for a WEEE collection.
